A couple of videos from the Tyler Rose swimwear channel of me photographing Megan Abrigo. As you can see I used very technical lighting AND have a dynamic Austin Powers personality... maybe not

one management blog: Richard Burbridge
One Management Agency's interview with Photographer Richard Burbridge
Really worth a read.
A few quotes I liked:
"When I shoot portraits I can talk Non-Stop as I feel a different person behind the camera. I also like to listen to people who speak their mind and express themselves freely."
"For me working with a model usually involves collaborating with a team. I like experimenting with hair and make up to change the face."
On Retouching: "Why do people find this controversial? I don't see photography as real or truthful in the first place. It's all manipulation and a huge Lie. I have gone too far in some cases looking for something pushed to the limit. It's like plastic surgery, too much is hideous. It is a Valuable tool, the trick is how to use it."

My equipment is better than yours... so what!
Often other photographers try to trump me with comments on how they have a newer camera or "Nikon is better than Canon" blah blah... they have "pro photo lights" or their gear is shinier.
I just yawn at this sort of mentality.
Fashion photography and good photography in general is about your vision! Anyone can learn to light a scene. That's why assistants are only paid a few hundred per shoot at the most and the photographer gets 10x that (or more).
A great photo shows your vision. If you are too afraid to reveal this then I don't care how good your exposure is or how many megapixels you have or what kind of glass is on your lens... people will not be impressed.
Terry Richardson gets paid more for one shoot than 90% of photographers make all year.
Listen to him talk about equipment and lighting if you don't believe me.

Watch this and weep!!

So True! Ellen Von Unwerth interview in the Guardian
Top tip: "It's more important to decide what you want to shoot rather than what technique to use."
"...I always felt bad in front of the camera, having to pose in particular ways – when all I wanted to do was something silly. So now I love it when models move, when they express themselves, when they play."

Cosmetic dentist Doug Hauck by Wallis Photo LLC
Dr Hauck used to have his cosmetic dentist office in Beverly Hills. His walls are a who's who of Hollywood. Since moving to Orange County he wants to concentrate less on the celeb image and more on his personality. Here is an ad I shot for him. He's a really down to earth great guy! Don't be intimidated by all the famous faces and endorsements on his walls!
You can see more health and medical corporate photography on my website here.
